Desktop experience

MuminOS is designed around a familiar desktop workflow with a top bar, dock, global search, window snapping, quick settings, lock and sign-in screens, and consistent window controls.

Application compatibility

The system is built around native Linux applications while also targeting Windows application compatibility and integrated Android application support, so users can work across multiple software ecosystems from one desktop.

App Center

A central App Center is intended to make discovering, installing, managing, and updating software straightforward without scattering common software tasks across the system.

System controls

Quick settings, per-application controls, display options, live wallpapers, driver tools, storage utilities, audio controls, and other everyday settings are designed to use one consistent interface.

Gaming and media

MuminOS is being developed with desktop gaming, media playback, browser use, hardware drivers, Windows compatibility, and Android applications in mind rather than functioning as a visual theme alone.

Performance, stability, and security

Development focuses on responsive performance, recovery from application or subsystem failures, sensible permissions, secure user data, dependable lock-screen behavior, and remaining usable with many applications open at once.

Current direction

MuminOS is an active engineering project. The goal is a complete, polished desktop environment with practical compatibility and system-management features while keeping the interface fast and understandable.
